07/08/2026, 13:14Kyrgyzstan is exploring additional sources of fuel and lubricants against the backdrop of fuel supply difficulties in a number of countries, according to the Kyrgyz Republic’s Minister of Energy, Altynbek Rysbekov.
He stated that the issue of securing fuel and lubricants remains a pressing concern not only for Kyrgyzstan but also for other countries. At the same time, the republic is entirely dependent on fuel imports, which is why work is currently underway to build up reserves and identify additional supply routes.
“Work is currently underway to secure fuel and lubricant reserves. Negotiations are also taking place with neighbouring states. In particular, discussions have already taken place at government level with Uzbekistan, and work is now continuing at ministerial level”, — noted Altynbek Rysbekov.
Kyrgyzstan is also in talks with Belarus. According to the minister, the Belarusian side has given a preliminary positive response regarding supply volumes. Issues relating to transit through Russian territory are currently being worked out.
Furthermore, fuel supply issues have been discussed with the Chinese side. The negotiations took place at Cabinet level; the parties are now working on procedural matters.
Altynbek Rysbekov added that a working group has been set up at government level to resolve fuel supply issues promptly. It is responsible for coordinating supplies, determining the necessary volumes and resolving issues requiring intergovernmental cooperation.
