Kyrgyzstan launches a pilot meat cluster project to stabilise food prices

Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, outlined measures to stabilise meat prices in the country, according to a statement from the Cabinet of Ministers.

A pilot meat cluster project based on the industrial fattening of cattle will be launched in the Chui Region and the city of Bishkek. Farmers and agribusinesses participating in the cluster will be provided with state support in the form of preferential low-interest loans through ‘Ayyl Bank’ and ‘Eldik Bank’.

The project aims to increase meat production, reduce prices and support domestic producers. In addition, food fairs are being held across all regions of the country at weekends to provide socially vulnerable groups with affordable food and stabilise the domestic market.
