09/18/2026, 13:59Kyrgyzstan and South Korea have signed a memorandum on the employment of Kyrgyz nationals in South Korea through the EPS scheme. The document was signed on 17 September following President Sadyr Zhaparov’s official visit to South Korea.
The EPS is a South Korean government scheme that enables foreign nationals to be formally employed in the country. It regulates the selection of workers, the processing of work permits and their employment relationships with employers.
Under the memorandum, Kyrgyz nationals will be able to take part in a formal and transparent recruitment process for jobs in South Korea. One of the stages will be sitting the EPS-TOPIK Korean language exam.
Kyrgyzstan and South Korea have also agreed to strengthen cooperation on labour migration issues, including migration processes and the legal protection of Kyrgyz workers.
