12/10/2024, 15:36Kyrgyz people still continue to keep money in cash. This was reported by Aibek Ashirov, Lead Economist of the World Bank, during the presentation of the WB study ‘Listening to the Kyrgyz Republic’.
However, he emphasised that the number of people who keep money in banks is also growing.
‘Kyrgyz people prefer to keep money in the national currency. 81% of respondents keep it in KGS,’ he said.
At the same time, 70% of households reported feeling financial and food security.
‘The subjective perception of well-being is improving, and the level of subjective poverty has stabilised around 16%,’ he said.
