Kyrgyzstan faces record foreign debt payments in 2030

Kyrgyzstan will face a significant burden in servicing its external debt in the coming years, with the peak of payments expected in 2030.

According to the Ministry of Finance's forecast prepared on 30 June, in 2030 the country will need to allocate more than $1 billion to debt repayment and servicing, which will be a record high in its history.

Payment structure:

  • In 2025-2029, annual payments will average between $274 million and $538 million.
  • In 2030, the volume will more than double, reaching a maximum of $1 billion 90.34 million.
  • After that, the burden will gradually decrease, and starting in 2031, it will not exceed $354.64 million.

The sharp increase in payments in 2030 is due to the end of grace periods on a number of large loans and obligations on Eurobonds placed in 2025 for $700 million.
