Commercial Bank KSB to increase its authorized capital

From January 19 to 23, the Financial Market Regulation and Supervision Service registered the seventh issue of ordinary registered shares of Commercial Bank KSB CJSC. The additional issue indicates that the bank is preparing to increase its authorized capital.

As of January 31, the bank's capital amounted to 1 billion KGS and remained unchanged since January 2025.

The need for recapitalization is related to the new requirements of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, which came into force on January 1, 2026. The regulator has established a phased increase in the minimum authorized capital for existing banks:

  • until June 30, 2026 — 800 million KGS
  • from July 1, 2026 — 1 billion KGS
  • from July 1, 2027 — 1.5 billion KGS
  • from July 1, 2028 — 2 billion KGS
  • from July 1, 2029 — 2.5 billion KGS
  • from July 1, 2030 — 3 billion KGS

At the moment, the bank formally complies with the standard, but next year the requirements will increase, which explains the preparations for a capital increase.

The registration of a new share issue usually means that shareholders intend to contribute additional funds or attract an investor. Thus, KSB has probably begun to gradually prepare for tighter regulation and future growth in capitalization requirements for the banking sector.

During the same period, the Financial Supervision Authority also registered the results of the next issue of shares of Eldik Bank OJSC. This once again confirms the general trend towards strengthening the capital base of banks.
