According to industry experts, the cost of trout on the domestic market depends on regional conditions, logistics and fish weight. The growth in domestic consumption is stimulating the opening of new farms, which is leading to an increase in production volumes and stabilisation of market prices.
The Spartak Trout agricultural cooperative in the city of Tokmok is one of the successful examples of trout farming development. The cooperative raises fish from fry: when they reach a weight of 200-300 grams, some of the trout are sold to other farms as planting stock, and fish weighing more than 1.5 kilograms are sold on the market as commercial products.
The cooperative's annual production volume is 20 tonnes of commercial trout. Spartak Trout focuses exclusively on the domestic market, where it supplies its products. It should be noted that today, domestic consumption of trout in Kyrgyzstan is between 5 and 10 tonnes per year.
The activity of local producers and stable demand indicate the high potential for further development of trout farming in Kyrgyzstan.
