Kyrgyzstan is preparing to switch urban transport to electricity

The authorities have launched the “Electrification of Urban Transport” project, which provides for the phased replacement of buses and trams with electric vehicles. The aim is to reduce air pollution, improve the environmental situation in cities, and cut fuel and maintenance costs.

Funding will come from the state budget and private investors. In the future, the project may attract additional investment in infrastructure and stimulate local production of electric transport. This will create new jobs and boost the development of related industries.

The project is currently at the budget and implementation plan preparation stage. Cooperation with major equipment manufacturers is planned, as well as the adaptation of international experience to local conditions. In the context of rising energy prices and climate risks, the authorities are counting on a rapid transition to more economical and sustainable solutions.
