03/17/2025, 17:49Within the framework of his visit to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting with the Chairman of the XUAR People's Government Erkin Tuniyaz in Urumqi.
On the agenda were issues of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian co-operation between the countries. Such key topics as optimising the functioning of border points, deepening energy cooperation, developing interaction between Aksu XUAR and Issyk-Kul oblast of Kyrgyzstan, as well as agricultural partnership were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the ‘Two Countries - Two Parks’ project, prospects in tourism and improving control over the circulation of medicines. The talks were held in the context of the second meeting of the ‘Kyrgyzstan - XUAR PRC’ cooperation programme and the 12th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Chinese coordination group on trade and economic cooperation.
Following the meeting, several bilateral documents were signed: a memorandum on twinning relations between XUAR and Chui Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, an action plan in the field of metrology, as well as a memorandum between Jitong Trading Xinjiang Co.,Ltd and Xinjiang Bank Co., LTD.
Torobaev thanked for the warm welcome and emphasised the importance of implementing the agreements reached, while Erkin Tuniaz confirmed XUAR's readiness to support cooperation and expressed confidence in further deepening of relations.
