A unified pricing policy will be implemented for socially significant goods, and price controls will be strengthened

Under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev, a meeting was held at the Presidential Administration to discuss measures to curb price increases for socially important goods.

During the meeting, issues related to strengthening the analysis and monitoring of price fluctuations for food products included in the list of socially significant goods, export and import issues, the inflation rate and mechanisms for introducing state price regulation were discussed.

The relevant agencies were given a number of instructions, including the adoption of operational and short-term measures.

In particular, the Antimonopoly Regulation Service and the National Statistics Committee were instructed to carry out thorough daily monitoring of prices for meat, vegetable oil, flour, potatoes, sugar, carrots and onions in the cities of Bishkek and Osh and to send the data to the presidential administration.

The State Tax Service has been instructed to consider reducing value added tax on imported food products, and the National Bank has been instructed to consider ways of providing preferential loans to citizens engaged in agriculture and livestock breeding.

In addition, the Bishkek city administration, together with the open joint-stock company Kyrgyz Agroholding, has been instructed to organise municipal pavilions where socially important goods will be sold. A similar approach is to be applied in seven regions of the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev noted that 88% of arable land in Kyrgyzstan is used by the population, and 65% of citizens earn income from agriculture and livestock breeding. He also added that the Cabinet of Ministers is constantly working to implement a unified pricing policy and monitor it.

The list of socially significant goods includes 50 items. This list is compiled taking into account the possibility of introducing state price regulation.
