Construction of a basalt fibre production plant has commenced in Tokmok

Since the beginning of the year, 77 industrial enterprises have been put into operation with a total investment of $334.4 million, creating more than 6,000 new jobs.

The construction of the basalt plant is of particular importance for the country's industrial development and symbolises a new stage in the implementation of the state policy on the industrialisation of Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliyev, during the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Basalt Evotek plant in Tokmok.

«Today we are laying the foundation for the construction of the first large-scale continuous basalt fibre production plant in Kyrgyzstan. The project is being implemented as part of the state policy on economic diversification, attracting investment and developing the country's industrial potential», — the Prime Minister emphasised.

According to him, new enterprises make a significant contribution to the development of regional infrastructure and job creation. According to preliminary data from the National Statistical Committee, in January-August 2025, the country's GDP exceeded 1 trillion soms, and real economic growth was 11%.

Industrial production increased by 11.5%, and enterprises produced products worth 437.1 billion soms. The volume of investment in the construction of the plant is $42 million, and the production capacity of the enterprise is up to 5,000 tonnes of basalt fibre per year.

«This enterprise is of great importance for the construction sector. The production of domestic basalt fibre will reduce dependence on imports and stabilise market prices», — said Adylbek Kasymaliyev.

He recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers had approved the State Programme ‘Basalt Fibre and Materials’ for 2024-2030, which aims to create a new industrial sector, reduce import dependence and expand export opportunities.

«Today's plant is one of the first projects to implement this programme. The state provides full support to promising and strategic initiatives», — said the head of the Cabinet.

Adylbek Kasymaliyev emphasised that the Chui region is the industrial centre of the country, and the city of Tokmok has historically played a key role in industrial development.

«Tokmok is regaining its status as an industrial centre. Thanks to its strategic location, logistical capabilities and labour resources, the city is becoming the north-eastern industrial hub of Kyrgyzstan», — he added.
