Kyrgyzstan will start actively attracting foreign IT specialists. The President approved the law

President Sadyr Zhaparov signed a law amending the legislation on external and labor migration. The document, developed by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh on October 9, 2024, is aimed at developing the country's economy and strengthening Kyrgyzstan's position in the global IT arena.

The law introduces a new status for foreign specialists in high-tech areas such as information and communication technologies, software development and creative industries. Holders of the “digital nomad” status are exempted from mandatory registration at the place of residence, receive an individual identification number (PIN), as well as the right to entrepreneurial activity, opening bank accounts and work without additional permits.

The initiative is aimed at attracting highly qualified specialists, which will support the development of the IT sector, stimulate innovation, increase tax revenues and create new jobs.

The Ministry of Economy notes the successful results of the pilot project launched in 2022 and expects further positive effects from the presence of digital nomads in Kyrgyzstan.

The Cabinet of Ministers will soon approve the procedure for obtaining the new status, including categories of specialists, their rights, obligations and conditions of stay for them and their families.

The law not only accelerates the attraction of personnel for high-tech industries, but also contributes to strengthening Kyrgyzstan's international image, making the country more competitive in the global economy.
