Kyrgyzstan and China sign agreement on solar project implementation

In Suzhou, China, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Energy signed an investment agreement with States Technology Co., Limited and San Energy Co. to build a 250 MW solar power plant in the village of Ak-Turpak in the Batken region. The document was signed by Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev, States Technology President Liu Fernando Oscar, and San Energy CEO Liu Yongze. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2025, with commissioning in 2027.

The project involves the construction of a power plant on an area of 669.3 hectares, which will provide electricity to the population of the Ak-Turpak aiyl okmotu. The energy produced will be purchased by JSC National Electric Grids of Kyrgyzstan (NEGK), which will increase the region's energy independence and reduce the load on existing capacities.

In addition, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Energy, NEGK, the Directorate of Power Plants Under Construction, and the Chinese company POWERCHINA. The parties agreed to attract investment in the energy sector, train specialists, and develop promising projects, including the possibility of building floating solar power plants on the Toktogul Reservoir.
