Talas-style mascarpone: domestic company launches soft cheese production

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and Emilia LLC are investing $1.2 million in expanding dairy production in the Talas Region. The project focuses on producing goods that were previously almost entirely imported from abroad.

This involves the industrial production of soft cheeses — cream cheese, feta and mascarpone. The launch of the production line will enable imports to be replaced and strengthen the position of domestic producers in the domestic market.

As part of the project, new production and cold storage facilities covering an area of around 500 square metres will be built, and modern European equipment will be installed. This will enable milk processing capacity to be increased to 90 tonnes per day and the production of up to 700 tonnes of new products per year.

Currently, the company produces around 600 tonnes of butter and cheese. Following the expansion, volumes will increase by a further 600 tonnes.

The project will also benefit local farms: the number of milk suppliers will rise to 3,000 households. This will create a stable market and provide additional income for the region’s residents. The plant itself will create 20 new jobs.
