The metropolitan city council threatens tenants in debt with public exposure

The capital's city hall reminded tenants of municipal property of the need to pay rent for the fourth quarter of 2025 on time and to pay off any accumulated debts.

According to the Municipal Property Management Department, its employees are already calling tenants, including debtors, to remind them of the approaching payment deadlines and warn them of the consequences of non-payment.

The municipality emphasises that leasing is not only the right to use municipal property, but also the obligation to faithfully fulfil the financial terms of the contract. In the event of a delay in payment of more than two months, the contract may be terminated unilaterally.

In the event of further evasion of obligations, the city council intends to apply the full range of measures provided for by law, including:

  • judicial recovery of debt and cancellation of the lease agreement;
  • referral to law enforcement agencies;
  • disconnection of electricity and water supply (for tenants of land plots for a period of 5 years or more);
  • charging a penalty of 0.1% for each day of delay, but not more than 25% of the amount owed;
  • dismantling temporary and lightweight structures in the event of non-payment of rent for more than three months or systematic violation of the terms of the agreement.

The City Council strongly recommends that tenants do not delay payments and settle all financial issues within the established deadlines. Otherwise, lists of debtors will be published on the official website of the City Council and sent to the media.
