Ministry of Economy explains how green taxonomy supports CO2 emissions reduction

The seminar was opened by Deputy Minister Mederbek Tumanov and GIZ project manager Judith Blank at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic. Green taxonomy is a system that determines which projects and activities are beneficial to the environment: helping to reduce emissions, save resources and develop a green economy. Thanks to these rules, investors and the state understand where to direct funding to support environmentally friendly initiatives.

The seminar reviewed international experience and discussed the application of taxonomy in the work of banks, statistics, tax and customs services.

The event was a step towards the practical use of the Green Taxonomy, approved in Kyrgyzstan on 30 April 2024 to attract investment and implement climate policy.
