The Minister of Energy inspected projects in the Issyk-Kul region's power grid

During a working trip to the Issyk-Kul region, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev familiarised himself with the state of the region's energy facilities and major projects planned for 2026.

During the visit, the minister held a meeting with the staff of the Issyk-Kul Electric Grids branch of OJSC ‘NESK’. Key issues in the industry were discussed, and instructions were given to speed up the installation of ‘smart’ meters and take measures to reduce electricity losses.

Particular attention was paid to the creation of new electrical network divisions for the operational maintenance of the Bedel checkpoint and nearby settlements, as well as to providing the Zheti-Oguz and Tyup RES with specialised equipment.

The minister familiarised himself with the project to build a 120 MW thermal power centre in the city of Karakol, connected to the 110/35/10 kV ‘Przevalsk’ substation. The new facility will fully meet the city's electricity needs.

During the trip, the power supply to the racetrack in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu, the administrative building of the Cholpon-Ata RES after major repairs, and the modernisation of the Dolinka substation with the installation of two new 40 MVA transformers were also inspected.

The minister visited the El-Nuru energy workers' resort, where 10 new cottages with 50 beds are being built and the drinking water system is being modernised. All work should be completed by 10 June 2026.

Summing up the trip, the minister emphasised that the development of energy infrastructure and improving the reliability of electricity supply remain priority areas, and that the timely and high-quality completion of tasks will form the basis for the sustainable operation of the industry.
