The Ministry of Labour has reiterated the requirement for Kyrgyz citizens to undergo mandatory training before working abroad

The Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan has reminded citizens travelling abroad for employment of the need to undergo pre-departure training.

This requirement applies to all Kyrgyz citizens travelling abroad for employment purposes. Private employment agencies that arrange employment for Kyrgyz citizens abroad are obliged to organise training and ensure that each applicant is provided with the necessary information prior to their departure.

The training programme covers entry regulations and the immigration laws of the destination country, living and working conditions, the rights and obligations of migrant workers, cultural differences, the basics of financial literacy, as well as potential risks and ways to prevent them. Citizens must also be explained the procedure to follow in the event of problems or emergencies, and how to protect their labour rights.

The Ministry notes that pre-departure training should help citizens minimise the risks associated with working abroad and obtain information in advance about the conditions of residence and work in the destination country.

The Ministry has separately warned private employment agencies of the need to comply with the established requirements and to provide training to citizens prior to their departure.
