08/12/2026, 09:58In Kyrgyzstan, 38,900 new jobs were created between January and March 2026, of which 33,300 were permanent. These figures were released by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, which attributes the rise in employment to increased investment activity and the implementation of government projects.
The largest number of new jobs was created in Bishkek – 11,800. This was followed by Batken Region (5,800), Osh Region (5,100), Jalal-Abad Region (4,400), Chui Region (3,600) and the city of Osh (3,100).
At the same time, the volume of foreign direct investment in the first quarter reached $386.8 million, which is 34.2 per cent more than in the same period last year. The largest inflow of capital was recorded in the Talas, Naryn, Chui and Jalal-Abad regions, as well as in Bishkek.
The Ministry notes that the growth in investment is contributing to the launch of new production facilities, the development of infrastructure and the expansion of entrepreneurial activity in the regions. As part of the regional development programme up to 2030, work has already begun on drawing up master plans for Uzgen and Kant with the support of the UNDP.
The results for January–June also show continued positive trends in industry. The highest rates of production growth were recorded in Osh – 176.7 per cent, the Batken region – 127.8 per cent, the Osh region – 122.9 per cent, the Issyk-Kul region – 122.5 per cent and the Chui region – 119.1 per cent. Furthermore, during the first half of the year, regional development funds financed 245 projects totalling 894.1 million KGS, resulting in the creation of a further 186 jobs.
