Traffic has resumed on the North–South motorway following mudslides

Traffic on the alternative North–South motorway, which had been closed due to mudslides, has now been fully restored. The road is open to traffic in both directions.

The mudslides occurred on 21 June between km 361 and 370 following heavy rainfall. Specialised machinery was deployed to the site to clear the road surface.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the road was fully cleared by 05:00 on 22 June, after which traffic resumed.

Road maintenance crews are currently continuing work to widen the carriageway and ensure safe passage along this section.

It should be noted that, the day before, heavy rainfall caused mudslides and rockfalls on several sections of Kyrgyzstan’s mountain roads, leading to temporary traffic restrictions.
