The National Bank has fined the bank 1,300 KGS for breaching reserve requirements

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has imposed a fine on one of the commercial banks for failing to maintain the minimum reserve requirement during the reference period from 18 May to 14 June 2026.

The fine amounted to just 1,361.5 KGS.

The breach relates to a failure to meet the requirements for maintaining mandatory reserves, which banks are obliged to hold in accordance with the National Bank’s regulatory acts. The regulator did not disclose the name of the financial institution.

Despite the symbolic size of the fine, statistics on the regulator’s supervisory activities show that financial sanctions against banks remain a relatively rare measure of enforcement.

For example, by the end of 2025, the National Bank had imposed 19 fines on commercial banks. The majority of sanctions were imposed in the first half of the year.

In total, the Supervisory Committee held 59 meetings, during which 163 issues relating to the banking sector were considered.
