The volume of sustainable bond placements on the KSE has tripled since 2022

The Kyrgyz Stock Exchange presented Kyrgyzstan’s experience in the field of green and sustainable finance at the second meeting of the Turkic Council on Green Finance. The event took place on 9 September in Astana as part of the Astana Finance Days 2026 international forum.

Kyrgyzstan was represented at the meeting by Aida Chodulova, Chief Executive of the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange. She spoke about the development of infrastructure in the country to attract investment in sustainable development projects.

According to her, since 2022, the volume of sustainable bond placements on the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange has tripled. The funds raised were channelled towards projects in the green economy and energy efficiency, support for women’s entrepreneurship, the development of social infrastructure and sustainable business, as well as environmental and climate initiatives.

The Kyrgyz Stock Exchange operates a Sustainable Development Sector. The exchange already has experience in issuing green, social, gender and ESG bonds, as well as sustainable development bonds.

“Sustainable finance is gradually becoming a practical tool for attracting investment into the Kyrgyz economy,” noted Aida Chodulova.

She also reported that the country has approved a Green Economy Development Programme up to 2029, adopted a Concept for the Formation of a National System for the Implementation of ESG Principles, is implementing the Climate Investment Programme for 2026–2030, and has a law ‘On Climate Action’ in force.

Participants at the meeting discussed the implementation of ESG approaches, the development of green finance, the improvement of financial markets and the expansion of cooperation between the countries of the Turkic world. The Kyrgyz Stock Exchange expressed its readiness to develop cooperation with foreign stock exchanges, financial organisations and development institutions.
