The turnover in interbank foreign exchange trading for the week exceeded $115 million

During the week of 21–25 September, the volume of interbank foreign exchange trading in Kyrgyzstan totalled $115.15 million. On average, banks conducted transactions worth approximately $23 million per day.

The highest volume was recorded on 22 September — $29.6 million. Trading was at its lowest the following day, 23 September, when the volume fell to $13.2 million. Activity then rose again — to $24.65 million on 24 September — and stood at $21 million on the last trading day of the week.

Almost half of the week’s turnover came from same-day settlement transactions – $58.6 million. Banks concluded a further $56.55 million in transactions with settlement on a different date.

Despite fluctuations in daily activity, the dollar exchange rate remained stable. Trading closed at 87.45 KGS per dollar on all five days. The smallest change in the opening rate was recorded on 24 September – down to 87.445 KGS – after which the dollar returned to the week’s closing level.
