The security zone around the cemeteries was moved so that the residents of Zher-Yntymag could legalise their homes

In the residential area of Zher-Yntymagy, one of the most pressing issues of recent years has been resolved — disputes over land located in cemetery protection zones.

These lands are now officially recognised as residential. The mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliyev, handed over 17 decrees to residents legalising plots with a total area of 69 hectares.

The decision was made possible after the Cabinet of Ministers approved a new rule reducing cemetery protection zones from 50 to 10 metres for those covered by the land amnesty.

This made it possible to preserve houses that had been in a ‘grey area’ for decades — built legally but not legally registered.

‘Many people have lived here for 15-20 years, and now their right to land has been officially confirmed. It is important that we have found a solution without destroying anyone's homes and destinies,’ said the mayor.

A total of 43 resolutions on the allocation of land plots have been signed for the Zher-Yntymagy area.

The work is being carried out as part of the land amnesty approved by the government decree of 18 October 2022, which allows for the settlement of old land disputes and the legalisation of the actual residence of citizens.
