Women received over 1.5 billion KGS in loans with the support of the Guarantee Fund

Women in Kyrgyzstan are becoming an increasingly visible force in the country's economy. According to the Guarantee Fund, in just nine months of this year, female entrepreneurs received more than 1.5 billion KGS in loans secured by the fund's guarantees.

The financial organisation issued 440 guarantees, accounting for 40% of the total number issued during this period. The amount of guarantees exceeded 369 million KGS, enabling women to obtain bank loans to develop businesses in various sectors, from agriculture to tourism and industry.

In Kyrgyzstan, women's entrepreneurship has been enshrined in law for the first time. In January 2025, a definition of this concept was added to the Law on the Protection of Entrepreneurs' Rights. This measure has increased attention to supporting women in business and expanded access to credit resources.

Most guarantees were issued to agriculture (64%) and trade (22%), but tourism leads in terms of the volume of support, accounting for 90 million KGS in guarantees, which attracted hundreds of millions of soms in investments in regional projects. Tourism is followed by trade (82.8 million soms), agriculture (63.5 million), industry (58.6 million) and services (55.8 million).

According to the fund's data, in recent years women have been increasingly investing in their own businesses, creating jobs and participating in rural entrepreneurship.
