Where Do Kyrgyz People Get Their Money? Household Income Rose by 18.7%

Cash income of the Kyrgyz population in the first quarter of 2026 totaled 269.2 billion KGS. Compared to the same period in 2025, it rose by 18.7%, according to the National Statistics Committee based on the results of an integrated sample survey of households.

Employment remains the primary source of income. Wages and other income from work accounted for 78.8% of all household cash income. Social transfers, including pensions and benefits, accounted for another 12.7%, while income from the sale of agricultural products produced on private subsistence farms accounted for 6.2%.

Of the total amount of 269.2 billion KGS, approximately:

• 212.1 billion KGS came from labor income;
• 34.2 billion KGS came from social transfers;
• 16.7 billion KGS came from the sale of agricultural products.

The remaining approximately 6.2 billion KGS came from other sources of income.

The growth in income in nominal terms indicates that the population received more money than in the previous year. However, this indicator alone does not mean that people’s standard of living improved by 18.7%. To fully assess real income growth, it must be compared with changes in prices.

At the same time, the income structure shows that Kyrgyz citizens primarily earn money through employment. Social benefits account for about one-eighth of income. And the percentage of income derived from agriculture indicates that this sector remains a significant source of income.
