The power plant was commissioned in June 2024 and is located on the reservoir of HPP-5 of Chakan HPP OJSC. Over the year of operation, the project has proven its efficiency and sustainability.
The floating solar power plant helps to save land, reduces water evaporation and can be used in conjunction with hydroelectric power plants.
The station is operating normally and has become part of a pilot project supported by the Asian Development Bank as part of a grant program. This is the first such station not only in Kyrgyzstan, but also one of the first in Central Asia.
Experts note that such solutions may be promising for a country where solar energy is one of the most accessible and environmentally friendly resources.
