Head of the Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint detained on corruption charges

The head of the Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint has been placed in the GKNB detention centre on charges of systematic corruption. This was reported by the GKNB of the Kyrgyz Republic.

As a result of efforts to combat corruption, the head of the Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint, A.N.O., was detained and placed in the GKNB KR detention centre for organising artificial queues at the Dostuk-Avtodorozhny checkpoint. A.N.O., an officer of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh region, was detained and placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic. He systematically received monetary rewards through intermediaries for allowing foreign citizens to cross the state border of Kyrgyzstan without hindrance, as well as for protecting individuals engaged in criminal activities at the border.

Active investigative and operational measures are currently underway to identify other officials involved in this crime, and work is also being done to create favourable conditions for citizens when crossing the state border.
