Kyrgyzstan Post has issued a commemorative stamp to mark the 20th anniversary of the Eurasian Development Bank

Kyrgyz Post OJSC has issued a special postage stamp to mark the 20th anniversary of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). The ceremonial cancellation of the first stamp took place during the EDB’s annual meeting and business forum, marking the official entry of the commemorative issue into postal circulation.

The ceremony was attended by Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB’s Board of Directors. During the event, a special commemorative postmark bearing the date of issue was applied to the first stamp.
The issue of the commemorative stamp serves as yet another symbol of the long-standing partnership between the EDB and the Kyrgyz Republic, which has been a member state of the Bank since 2011.

Bakyt Sydykov, Minister of Economy and Trade, congratulated the Eurasian Development Bank on its 20th anniversary and highlighted the importance of cooperation with the Bank for the Kyrgyz Republic. He emphasised that the EDB brings together not only financial resources but also a professional community focused on achieving common goals and unlocking the region’s potential. The Minister expressed his confidence in the further strengthening of the partnership for the benefit of all member states, and wished the Bank continued prosperity, the successful implementation of new objectives and the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between countries.

«It is a great honour for us that the EDB’s 20th anniversary has been marked by the issue of a special postage stamp. We are sincerely grateful to the Kyrgyz Republic and our colleagues at Kyrgyz Post OJSC for this mark of respect for the Bank’s work. It is particularly symbolic that this has taken place in the year marking the 15th anniversary of Kyrgyzstan’s membership of the EDB. Over the years, we have jointly implemented dozens of projects aimed at developing the economy and improving people’s quality of life. I am confident that our cooperation will continue to strengthen, opening up new opportunities for the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan and the entire Eurasian region», — said Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the EDB’s Management Board.

The ceremonial cancellation is one of the main traditions of global philately and is held to mark the issue of postage stamps dedicated to memorable events and anniversaries. A special postmark bearing the date of issue lends the first copies particular historical and collectable value.

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is a multilateral development bank carrying out investment activities across the Eurasian region. For 20 years now, the EDB has been helping to strengthen and expand economic ties and promote the comprehensive development of its member countries. By the end of December 2025, the EDB’s cumulative portfolio will comprise 326 projects with a total investment volume of $19.6 billion. The majority of the EDB’s portfolio consists of projects with an integration effect in the fields of transport infrastructure, digital systems, green energy, agriculture, industry and mechanical engineering. In its activities, the bank is guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals and ESG principles.

As part of its 2022–2026 Strategy, the EDB is implementing three mega-projects: the ‘Central Asian Water and Energy Complex’, the ‘Eurasian Transport Framework’ and the ‘Eurasian Commodity Transport Network’.
