As of February 1, Kyrgyzstan’s permanent population stood at 7,414,000 people. The highest concentration of residents is found in the most economically active regions: Osh Province (1,440,200), Jalal-Abad Province (1,381,800), and Bishkek (1,360,700).
This territorial concentration of the population reflects internal migration and the uneven socio-economic development of the regions. Thus, in a number of regions, such as Naryn (316,500) and Talas (283,100) provinces, the population remains significantly lower. This indicates a continuing imbalance in population distribution.
Overall, according to statistics, the country’s population increased by 9,200 people, or 0.1%, in January.
