Generation Z has brought $80 billion to the stock markets

Generation Z is becoming the largest group of users of investment products and is increasingly active in the financial markets. Since the start of 2026, young investors have accounted for around $80 billion in trading volume for Binance’s TradFi products, with their monthly trading volume growing by approximately 24 per cent. This is according to a Binance Research study on the behaviour of the new generation of investors.

According to the study, 30 per cent of Generation Z made their first investments whilst still at university or in early adulthood. By comparison, this figure stands at 15 per cent among Millennials, 9 per cent among Generation X, and 6 per cent among Baby Boomers.

At the same time, young investors demonstrate a higher level of financial literacy. Around 77 per cent of Gen Zers reported having received formal financial education, whereas the figure stands at 69 per cent among millennials and 58 per cent among Generation X.

Today, Gen Z leads the way among users of Binance’s investment products. They account for 44 per cent of Binance Direct Stocks and bStocks customers, and 45 per cent of TradFi-Perps users. Among those using all three of the platform’s TradFi products, young investors make up 48 per cent.

Interest in investing among young people continues to grow: the proportion of Gen Z among new users of Binance’s TradFi products rose from 41 per cent in January 2026 to 47 per cent in July.

However, young investors do not demonstrate a heightened appetite for risk. Only 5.9 per cent of their trading volume is accounted for by leveraged ETFs — the lowest figure among all age groups. On average, Gen Z users make 2.6 trades per day, compared with 3 trades for other users.

NVIDIA has become the most popular first investment among Binance Direct Stocks users, accounting for 20% of initial investments. This is followed by Micron with 8%, Tesla, Apple and the Nasdaq-100 ETF. Around 60% of young users’ investment portfolios are in the IT sector and communications services, with a further 26% in semiconductor manufacturers.

At the same time, 95 per cent of Gen Z users in Binance’s TradFi product segment live in emerging economies. For 13 per cent of young investors from these markets with portfolios of less than $2,000, the platform serves as their first point of access to the US stock market.

According to Binance Research, Generation Z is shaping a new type of investor, characterised by an earlier start, financial literacy and a focus on long-term investments as the key traits of this young generation of market participants.
