07/28/2026, 15:41Following the official launch of Apple Pay in Kyrgyzstan, the National Bank announced that its collaboration with Apple would continue. The regulator stated that other digital services may also appear in the country in the future.
Sanzhar Abdygaziev, a member of the Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, explained that the first group of banks has now connected to Apple Pay, and the rest will join as they become technically ready.
“There are the following banks which will also join as they become ready. We have other systems in the pipeline, but I won’t disclose them at this stage. We will, of course, share this information as they become ready,” said Abdygaziev.
According to him, the launch of Apple Pay required extensive preparation. The National Bank, commercial banks, international payment systems and Apple representatives spent a long time coordinating technical and compliance procedures.
“It really did involve very lengthy work processes. There were contacts, discussions, checks and a great deal of work on the part of commercial banks and international payment systems practically every week,” he noted.
The National Bank emphasised that the main aim of launching the service is to provide the people of Kyrgyzstan with modern and convenient methods of cashless payment, as well as to expand opportunities for business and e-commerce.
Apple Pay has today officially become available in Kyrgyzstan. Several banks were the first to launch the service; other financial institutions will be able to join once integration is complete.
