The flow of dollars into Kyrgyzstan decreased by 10.5%

Kyrgyzstan continues to see a steady decline in dollar inflows from abroad. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, the country received $105.9 million through international money transfer systems, which is 10.5% less than in the same period last year. The number of dollar transactions also fell by 18.5%.

Thus, the volume of dollar transfers to Kyrgyzstan continues to decline rapidly. While the country received $909.2 million in 2021, it received $463.2 million in 2024, and based on the results of the first quarter, the decline may continue in 2025.

This indicates a decline in the dollar as the dominant currency for cross-border settlements. This is particularly evident against the backdrop of growth in transfers in euros, which increased by 5.3% in the first three months of this year for incoming transfers and almost eightfold for outgoing transfers.

However, the main growth is still observed in transfers in Russian rubles. The number of incoming transactions almost doubled (+96.5%), and the volume increased by 75%. At the same time, ruble transfers now account for the lion's share of foreign currency inflows to Kyrgyzstan.
