Kyrgyzstan Celebrates Entrepreneur's Day as SME Sector Contributes 43.6% to GDP in 2024

Bishkek, 20 September 2025 - Kyrgyzstan celebrates Entrepreneur's Day every year on 20 September. According to the National Statistical Committee, in 2024, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) produced gross value added of 664.6 billion KGS, accounting for 43.6% of the country's GDP.

Despite the fact that the average monthly salary of SME employees (31,535 soms) remained below the national average (36,047 soms), the sector continues to be a key driver of the economy. It employs 114,000 people and the largest shares of enterprises are in trade (34 per cent), industry (12 per cent) and construction (10 per cent).

Agriculture also makes a notable contribution: peasant farms produced 248.5 billion soms worth of output, including more than 234,800 tonnes of live weight livestock and poultry and 924,500 tonnes of milk.
