The Chairman of the State Tax Service spoke about the importance of controlling sugar-containing beverages

At a meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament's Committee on Budget and Fiscal Policy, the Chairman of the State Tax Service, Almamet Shykmamatov, noted the importance of controlling sugar-containing beverages in order to protect public health.

According to him, Kyrgyz citizens who consume counterfeit beverages may not feel any immediate harm to their health, but the consequences will become apparent over time.

«This is important. Now people drink counterfeit cola and say, “No one has died, nothing has happened, we've been drinking it for a month or a year.” But they don't think about it now — the consequences will manifest themselves in 10-15 years in the form of chronic diseases and cancer. This is very important because people don't get poisoned right away. Today they drink it, tomorrow they drink it again, especially children — they love these drinks. If they regularly consume fake cola, sooner or later it will lead to chronic diseases. Why do we need that? That is why we want to take tough measures», — emphasised the head of the State Tax Service.
