10/12/2026, 18:00President Sadyr Zhaparov has instructed officials to consider transferring the “Umai” sanatorium in the Batken Region from the trade unions’ balance sheet to the state’s balance sheet and to organise a major refurbishment before winter sets in.
Naziya Turdaliyeva, a resident of the village of Ak-Orgo, made a request to bring the facility up to standard during a meeting with the President. According to her, the sanatorium has not been renovated for a long time, which means that the conditions for visitors’ stays remain unsatisfactory.
“There have been no repairs since it was built. In summer, people hardly ever come because of the heat, and in winter there is nowhere to relax – the conditions simply won’t allow it. The building itself is still usable; it just needs a major refurbishment,” said the resident.
Zaparov instructed the Presidential Administration to inspect the facility and determine the next steps. He also stated that the sanatorium must be transferred to state ownership, after which repairs should be carried out.
“Transfer it to the state’s balance sheet as a matter of urgency, then renovate it and get it ready for winter,” said the President.
In addition, Zaparov instructed that the facility’s operations be digitised so that payments are made directly into a bank account, thereby reducing the risk of abuse.
“Everything needs to be digitised so that the money goes straight into the bank. If we simply appoint someone and leave everything as it is, in five to ten years’ time that person may be nowhere to be found, and the facility will have to be rebuilt,” stated the head of state.
The transcript does not specify the cost of the repairs, the technical condition of the building or the scope of the work required. The legal procedure for the transfer of the sanatorium and the timeframe for its completion also need to be clarified.
