Construction and installation work continues on the main building of the Ohto-Tokoy HPP

The Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic is implementing a number of projects aimed at improving the reliability of the country's energy system. One of the projects aimed at eliminating the electricity deficit is the construction of the Orto-Tokoy HPP.

Work is currently underway on the construction of the main building of the hydroelectric power plant, which will house the machine room, main and auxiliary equipment, and the control room. The hydroelectric power plant building provides convenient access for maintenance and repair, and it is here that the energy of the water flow is converted into electrical energy.  Work is proceeding according to the approved schedule, and to date, Chakan HPP OJSC has completed 68% of the construction of the Orto-Tokoi HPP.

In addition, installation work is underway to install and assemble the spiral chambers of the hydraulic units and to concrete the water intake shaft.

To date, temporary and permanent access roads to the construction sites have been completed. The construction camp and material storage warehouses have been completed. The installation and assembly of a 10-tonne gantry crane for the installation of the water intake has also been completed.

The 928-metre tunnel has been completely excavated. Concrete and earthworks for the construction of a road to the water intake, with a total length of 92 metres, have been completed. Construction is expected to be fully completed in the first half of 2026.
