12/19/2025, 08:43The Eurasian Development Bank has announced its readiness to participate in financing the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan—a project worth billions of dollars. This was announced by Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Board of the EDB, at a final press conference.
According to him, the bank is ready to join the project as soon as the plans for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan are formalized.
"We are ready to participate, but Kyrgyzstan is still considering the matter. It is important for us that this thought process takes shape in concrete plans. Then we will be ready to join — both in terms of design, if necessary through the Technical Assistance Fund, and in terms of financing," Podguzov said.
The head of the EDB emphasized that the construction of a nuclear power plant is a large-scale and capital-intensive project that cannot be implemented with a single source of financing.
“It is obvious that this will be a project worth more than a billion dollars. Given our size, we will only be able to provide part of the financing, but we are ready to do so and will be happy to participate,” he said.
