06/10/2026, 14:11A public consultation on the project to construct a reservoir on the Sumsarsay River took place in the Ala-Buki District of the Jalal-Abad Region.
The event was attended by the leadership of the Water Resources Service, the akims of the Ala-Buki and Chatkal districts, as well as local residents.
Participants were provided with information about the project, its significance for supplying the population and agriculture with irrigation water, and the prospects for the development of irrigated land in the Ayratam Valley.
According to the project’s initiators, the construction of the reservoir will increase the area of irrigated land by approximately 1,500 hectares. This will create additional opportunities for agricultural development, increased crop yields, and improved water supply to the region’s farmland.
Technical options for implementing the project are currently being reviewed, and an assessment of its environmental aspects is underway.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed noting the necessity of constructing the reservoir. A decision was also taken to continue the design work, with a subsequent transition to the construction phase.
