One of the most controversial issues is granting the agency new powers to audit organisations commissioned by the president or parliament, including private companies.
MP Dastan Bekeshev openly opposed this initiative, considering it excessive and potentially dangerous for the business community.
"It means you can get into any private structure and check there. Parliament is a political body, where there are also businessmen. Therefore, I am afraid some businessmen will start cracking down on their competitors through the Accounts Chamber,’ he said.
Bekeshev suggested revising the amendments to limit the Accounts Chamber's control functions to state expenditures and public institutions. Otherwise, the deputy said, the risks for private entrepreneurs will increase, which could lead to a loss of confidence in the state control system.
