The village is home to a project to build 14 water gates (sluices) on irrigation canals.
The village of Kara-Suu is part of the eponymous aiyl okmotu, which includes four settlements: Kara-Suu, Dyikan, Kalinin and Terek-Suu.
The population is 12,735, with a total of 2,367 households.
The main occupation of local residents is agriculture, and reliable water supply plays a key role in the region's food security.
Today, many irrigation canals in Kara-Suu are not equipped with water distribution nodes, which leads to irrational water consumption and low crop yields. The project will construct 14 sluice gates to improve water management and irrigation efficiency.
The project will benefit 1,122 households in the village of Kara-Suu.
Residents from socially vulnerable groups are involved in the construction. Upon completion of the work, 10 of them will receive food parcels containing 300 kilograms of wheat flour and 30 litres of vegetable oil from the UN WFP.
