On March 11, reconstruction of hydroelectric unit No. 3 officially started at the Uch-Kurgan hydroelectric power plant. The project is implemented by the Chinese company CNEEC (China National Electric Engineering Co. Ltd.).

At present, the equipment is being dismantled, and the necessary preparatory measures have been taken beforehand.

During the reconstruction period, the total capacity of the HPP is 144 MW. The hydraulic units commissioned in 1962 have not undergone major modernization before.  It is planned to complete the reconstruction of hydro unit No. 3 in November 2025.

Recall that Uch-Kurgan HPP is equipped with four hydroelectric units, each with a capacity of 45 MW. In 2024, the reconstruction of hydropower unit No. 4 was completed, which increased its capacity by 9 MW. A similar increase is expected after modernization of hydropower unit No. 3.
