Craft workshops will be included in tourist programmes

The Tourism Development Support Fund and the Association of Designers and Craftsmen have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

The main goal is to revive traditional crafts and make them part of the tourist experience in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties have agreed to work together on key areas. These include, for example, the integration of artisans into tourist routes — workshops and craft locations will be included in tour programmes, creating new attractions for visitors to the country. Joint ethno-festivals, fairs and exhibitions will be held to promote craft art within the country and in foreign markets.

They also intend to develop marketing and information tours to attract tourists to craft centres and raise awareness of national art.

The foundation notes that this partnership is a step towards developing cultural tourism and supporting craftsmen who preserve the heritage of Kyrgyzstan.
