09/09/2026, 12:09President Sadyr Zhaparov announced that Kyrgyzstan is maintaining high rates of economic growth. According to him, real gross domestic product (GDP) growth stood at 11.1 per cent over the first seven months of 2026.
The Head of State made this announcement on 9 September during a speech at the Jogorku Kenesh at the swearing-in ceremony for individual members of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Over the past four years, the average annual rate of economic growth has stood at 10.2 per cent, which indicates sustained growth. This result is also confirmed by specific figures for 2026. Based on the results for the first seven months of 2026, the real GDP growth rate stood at 11.1 per cent. This is one of the highest rates of economic growth not only in Central Asia, but also in the world”, — said Sadyr Zhaparov.
The President noted that in recent years Kyrgyzstan has entered a new stage of development. According to him, dozens of major infrastructure projects are being implemented, and new roads, schools and social facilities are being built.
The President emphasised that systematic work is being carried out to develop industry, the energy sector, agriculture, transport and logistics, as well as to expand the country’s investment opportunities.
“Our common and sacred task is to transform Kyrgyzstan into a state with a strong economy and modern, well-developed infrastructure, where citizens have ample opportunities to access quality education, employment, business opportunities and a decent standard of living”, — stated the Head of State.
At the same time, the President emphasised that further cooperation between all branches of government is necessary to maintain the current rate of progress.
According to him, effective cooperation between the President, the Jogorku Kenesh and the Cabinet of Ministers must be directed towards implementing the main priorities of state policy and further strengthening the economy.
Sadyr Japarov also noted that the major international events held in Kyrgyzstan – the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, the visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping, the official visit by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and the 6th World Nomad Games – have helped to enhance the country’s international standing.
“Countries around the world have begun to view Kyrgyzstan in a new light and in a new capacity. Interest in and trust in our country are growing”, — he said.
The President noted that Kyrgyzstan’s chairmanship of the SCO in 2025–2026 marked an important milestone for multilateral diplomacy. During its chairmanship, issues relating to security, sustainable development, transport, trade and economic cooperation, energy, digitalisation and humanitarian ties were promoted.
According to Zaparov, strengthening the country’s economic foundations is one of the main achievements of recent years.
“The task now is to maintain the pace of development and continue to make steady progress at the level we have reached”, — the President emphasised.
Separately, the Head of State called for the prevention of corruption and other phenomena that hinder economic development. He also stated that he was prepared to support those who provide proven and substantiated evidence of corruption within state bodies.
