EAEU Electronic Commerce Agreement May Be Signed by End of 2025

On July 17 and 18, face-to-face expert consultations were held at the Eurasian Economic Commission with the participation of executive authorities and businesses from EAEU countries. During the meeting, chaired by Askat Bekov, Deputy Director of the EEC's Customs, Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Department, the results of the intra-state coordination of the draft Agreement on Electronic Trade in Goods within the Union were summarized.

The participants discussed the remaining differences on issues of common approaches to the regulation of mutual electronic trade in goods, consumer protection, the use of electronic document management, as well as common concepts and rules for the circulation of digital goods.

“The main objective of the agreement is to establish transparent rules for electronic commerce in the Union's internal market. This will ensure the free movement of goods and services and will be an important stimulus for the economic growth of our countries in the context of digitalization,” said Askat Bekov.

Given the progress made, the agreement is expected to be signed by the end of 2025. This document is being developed as part of the implementation of the Action Plan to create favorable conditions for the development of e-commerce in the EAEU, approved in 2021.
