The average price of coal in Kyrgyzstan has risen by 7-10%

Coal prices in the country continue to rise. While in 2024 a ton of local fuel cost an average of about 6,000 KGS, by the fall of 2025 it will be 7-10% more expensive.

In Bishkek, a ton of coal costs on average 6,200 KGS. For comparison, in 2024, the price was 5,733 KGS — an increase of 8.1%. Imported coal also rose in price: from 6,300 to 7,000 KGS per ton, an increase of 11.1%.

The city of Osh set a record for coal price increases. Last year, a ton cost 7,000 KGS, but now it costs 8,000 KGS, an increase of 14.3%. Coal from the Kara-Keche open-pit mine has become particularly expensive, reaching 9,000 KGS per ton. Overall, the average price in the Osh region has increased by 12.7%, from 5,866 to 6,614 KGS.

In the Chui region, coal prices rose by 13.1%, reaching 6,650 KGS per ton. In the Jalal-Abad region, the increase was 2.48%, but even these figures are significant for low-income families.

Against this backdrop, the Naryn region stood out with a decrease in fuel prices. Here, coal fell in price by 5.2%—from 5,533 to 5,244 KGS per ton. In the Issyk-Kul region, coal also became cheaper—by 6.6%—but the region remains one of the most expensive: a ton costs on average 6,935 KGS. At the same time, imported coal here, on the contrary, rose in price by almost 20% and now costs 10,228 KGS per ton.

In the Batken region, the price of coal rose by almost 9%, reaching 8,437 KGS per ton.
