Applications for the ‘El Umutu’ scholarship are now open; the portal will remain open until 10 June

On 11 May, the online portal for the ‘El Umutu’ international presidential scholarship went live in Kyrgyzstan, through which applications for the competition are being accepted.

Applications must be submitted via the programme’s official web portal and will be accepted until 10 June. The platform also contains information on eligibility criteria, selection criteria, deadlines and the stages of the competition.

Kyrgyz citizens aged up to 40 for master’s programmes and up to 45 for PhD programmes are eligible to apply. A mandatory requirement is admission to a foreign university.

The scholarship is awarded to Master’s students for up to 2 years and to PhD students for up to 3 years, but not exceeding the duration of study at the foreign university.

The competition consists of two stages. First, the documents are reviewed, then decisions are made by the national commission. Winners sign a contract with the authorised body.
