Betting on grain. Farmers have increased wheat and barley crops

This year, farmers have planted significantly more wheat and barley than last spring. The spring sowing campaign is now in full swing across the country, and farmers have already managed to prepare and sow almost 334,000 hectares of land.

The main positive trend is the increase in the area under major crops. Wheat was sown on 7,600 hectares more than a year ago on the same date, bringing the total area to 72,700 hectares. This is already more than 70% of the total planned for the year. The increase in barley is even more noticeable: 15,200 hectares more than last year have been allocated for barley, and it now occupies 145,600 hectares. This is about 60% of the annual plan.

The areas under potatoes (plus 800 hectares), vegetables (+400 hectares) and melons such as watermelons and melons (+210 hectares) have also increased, albeit not as significantly.

At the same time, sowing of other important crops continues: corn, for which more than 48,000 hectares have already been allocated, oilseeds (sunflower, safflower, etc.) and sugar beet, which is sown in the Chui and Talas regions.

The Ministry of Water and Agriculture reports that it is monitoring the progress of work, providing farmers with everything they need and trying to help with the introduction of modern technologies to ensure a good harvest.
