Capital enterprises owe nearly 20 million KGS in wages

At the beginning of July, companies in the capital owed their employees 19.6 million KGS in unpaid wages, not including small businesses. According to official data, this amounts to 78.2 KGS per employee.

Compared to June this year, the total debt has increased by 56%.

The largest debts are in the following sectors:

  • wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles — 5.8 million KGS;
  • construction — 5.3 million KGS;
  • manufacturing and energy — 2.3 million KGS;
  • transport and cargo storage — 1.8 million KGS;
  • professional, scientific and technical activities — 1.2 million KGS;
  • education and the hotel and restaurant sector — 400,000 KGS;
  • financial intermediation and insurance — 100,000 KGS.

The enterprises in the Pervomaisky district owed their employees the most — their debt is estimated at 8.5 million KGS. Compared to the same date in 2024, the growth was 35.8%, and by June 2025, the debt had increased almost 2.5 times.

In second place was the Oktyabrsky district, where companies' debts to employees reached 6.5 million KGS. A year ago, the debt here did not exceed one million soms (800,000 KGS), meaning that over the course of a year, the debts grew almost eightfold.

At the same time, the Sverdlovsk and Leninsky districts recorded a decrease in wage payment obligations. Progress is particularly noticeable in the Leninsky district, where companies reduced their debt from 14.6 million KGS a year ago to 500,000 KGS.

In the Sverdlovsk district, the debt amounted to 4.1 million KGS, which is 7.2% less than in July 2024.

For comparison, a year ago, in July 2024, the total debt in Bishkek was 26.1 million KGS. Thus, in annual terms, the debt has decreased by almost 25%, but a new wave of growth is being recorded within 2025.
