Construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 Hydropower Plant Progresses as Scheduled

According to OAO Electric Power Plants, construction of the Kambar-Atinskaya HPP-1 is proceeding smoothly and in strict accordance with the previously approved schedule.

 Currently, the technical and economic feasibility study for the project is being finalised, within which a decision was made to construct a dam from roller-compacted concrete. 

Once commissioned, the hydropower plant will be capable of generating 6 billion kWh of electricity per year. The environmental and social impact assessment of the project is also being completed. An intergovernmental agreement between Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the implementation of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project is in the process of being signed. As part of the preparatory phase, roads are being built. 

The construction of 11.2 kilometres of roads is planned. To date, 85% of the road base has been prepared and 63% has been concreted. The work is scheduled for completion in November 2025. A 126-metre section of the transport tunnel has been fully completed. Active work is underway on concrete laying and landscaping of the internal road. 

Completion is expected by the end of 2025. Laying of a 110 kV power line and construction of a 110/6 kV substation: 51.07% of the work has been completed, and the main equipment is being installed. Completion is scheduled for 1 August 2025. 

As for the construction of the bridge across the Naryn River to the right bank, the pile driving work has been completed and the concrete pouring of the bridge pier is underway. According to the contract, the work is scheduled to be completed by 31 December 2025. Currently, 14% of the work has been completed. Work on the foundation of a residential complex for 100 people has been completed, and metal frames have been installed. Currently, 10% of the work has been completed. 

Completion of construction is scheduled for 1 November 2025. OAO Electric Power Plants will use all necessary resources to ensure the high-quality and timely implementation of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 project.
